Nasal Endoscopy: A Clear View Inside Your Nose and Sinuses

Nasal endoscopy is a specialized diagnostic procedure that allows doctors to examine the nasal passages and sinus openings with exceptional clarity. Using a thin, rigid or flexible tube called an endoscope, equipped with a high-definition camera and light source, this procedure provides a detailed, magnified view of the internal structures of the nose and upper airway. It is especially useful for diagnosing conditions that are not visible through routine examination methods.

This procedure helps identify a wide range of nasal and sinus issues, including chronic sinusitis, nasal polyps, deviated septum, tumors, allergic rhinitis, and infections. Nasal endoscopy is often recommended when patients present with symptoms like nasal blockage, facial pain, frequent nosebleeds, post-nasal drip, or loss of smell. The clarity and precision offered by this tool allow for early detection and targeted treatment, reducing the need for unnecessary imaging or invasive procedures.

Performed in an outpatient setting, nasal endoscopy is quick, safe, and generally well-tolerated. A mild nasal spray may be used to numb the area and reduce discomfort. Since it is a non-surgical and minimally invasive procedure, most patients resume normal activities immediately afterward. In some cases, it is also used to guide treatments such as biopsies, polyp removal, or sinus drainage. Nasal endoscopy not only enhances diagnostic accuracy but also empowers patients to understand their condition better by viewing real-time images of their nasal passages.
